Laurimar Pony Club was formed in 2001 by a small, but hardworking and dedicated group of horse enthusiasts who wanted to share their love of their equine companions. Originally, The club was situated within the Laurimar Estate in Doreen, but the popularity of the housing estate eventually led to the developers reclaiming the land used by the Pony Club, for further housing.
After much concern about the future of the club, Laurimar was relocated by Whittlesea Council to its current home, in Regent Street Mernda, where the club share facilities with Findon Pony Club.
The grounds include 2 fenced in all-weather arenas, 3 grass areas, a cross-country course, toilets and clubrooms. Both clubs are currently involved in a project to deliver new clubrooms that will provide members with an updated canteen facility and training rooms for theory sessions.
Laurimar is a family orientated club with most of our families having two riders. Our youngest member is 4 years old and we have a group catering specifically for our youngsters on the lead, as they are the future of our club.
We offer quality instruction to all our riders, with our current instructor, Leigh Dunstan, well qualified in all areas of pony club. Leigh has successfully competed, trained, instructed and judged at all levels of Equestrian Events and his years of experience mean our riders learn all aspects of horsemanship.
2011 is Laurimar 10th year and we are planning a number of events to ensure our club continues on towards its 20th year.
